A Book, A List and A Shopping Trip...

So, I officially start my diet tomorrow!!! My wonderful hubby has offered to give it a try also to help me out. With the South Beach Diet, the first 2 weeks are the hardest. You're cleansing your body and getting rid of sugar and carb addictions. Basically, you're not allowed bread of any kind, pasta, fruits, a couple of veggies with high carb value, anything sugary. With so many sugar-free options out there, it shouldn't be too hard. I've already read the book and know how to get started, what foods to eat, and what to avoid. I've made my list, checked it twice, or thrice (is that a word?) and I'm off to the grocery store tomorrow. I'm going to buy lots of sugar-free fudge pops. I'm sure that will help me to get through the 2 weeks of no bread! =)
(No weigh-in yet, I'm scared to check the scale this close after Christmas).

All I can say is...

I blew it today. It's Christmas, right? No weigh-in and no limits! However, I didn't go back for 2nd's at all today, except for the sweets. =)

The First "Real" Update....

OK, so I started this thing and haven't posted in a couple of days-that's me!
I still haven't had time to get Keith to take my measurements. I did, however weigh in. Monday and Tuesday, I was at 151 lbs. Today I'm 150.5 lbs. It's a start, right? So, what did I do? Well, I haven't started my diet yet because I've already bought groceries and planned meals for the rest of December.
Food wise, the biggest this is not going back for seconds of anything. Also, not eating anything after dinner. I actually think I may start brushing my teeth with the kids after dinner.
Exercise wise, I haven't done the elliptical yet this week, but have been busy doing other things. I've shoveled a ton of snow and 3in thick ice for 2 days. I also ran around the loop a couple times pulling the kids in the snow tube. That counts, right? It felt like a work-out to me!
So, here's hoping I can keep from licking the batter and extra frosting from the chocolate b-day cake we're making tonight for Jesus. (fingers crossed)!!!

In the beginning...

OK, so there has to be a beginning, right? Well, this is it. My purpose of creating this blog is to be able to track my progress. Being that my home is for sale, I can't really put a chart up on the fridge, and I would lose or misplace a paper or a "real" journal. I don't know if anyone will read this (maybe Missi), but I'm still going to attempt to keep it updated.
I'm planning on starting the South Beach Diet again soon. It really worked well for me last year when I started it. Keith also said that he would do it with me to make it easier for me. I love that one because you don't have to measure anything or count calories. You just avoid what they say to avoid and eat as much as you want of what they allow you to eat. There are also some pretty good recipes in there (even cauliflower mashed potatoes).
I'm also going to use my elliptical at least 3 times a week.
I will try to keep it updated maybe even daily. I will also post my weight and measurements often. I will have Keith measure me later today and start tomorrow morning with my weight (so I will weight less =)).
Wish me luck!!!
